Hoping for some enlightenment, as I'm hoping that I'm just using it incorrectly.īTW, I know that I can import board shapes from the mech. So, what I'm wondering is, is there another way, a less obvious way to edit board shapes, that works better? Or is there some setup that I can do, so that the corners move with the lines, instead of being messed up? As I'm using it, it's almost a deal breaker. Here's an Imgur album showing the problem I cannot, as far as I know, select multiple polygons when editing the board shape. It's as if I moved the polygon connecting the line to the corner radius, or maybe that AD prioritizes making circles of the corners. What I hoped for, was that the radii or the corners stayed the same, and that the corners simply moved. I'm finding that the PCB shape editing works just fine for drawing (not editing) simple board shapes, but when I want to edit complex board shapes, it falls miles short of what I expected from such a polished software.ĭraw a board shape that has sides and rounded corners I'm impressed with many of the functions in AD, even compared to the much more expensive software we use today.īut, I think that the board shape editing is terrible, and I'm wondering why they haven't fixed it, especially when it is far behind the functionality of the rest of AD. I've been testing Altium Designer for a few weeks now, as my company is considering changing layout software.
